9th AIIB Board of Governors Meeting – 2024

The 9th Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Board of Governors Meeting was held on September 25–26, 2024, in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The meeting focused on promoting climate-resilient infrastructure and mobilizing global financial resources for sustainable development.

Key Outcomes of the Meeting

  • The Climate Policy-Based Financing (CPBF) initiative was launched to encourage private sector investment in climate-related infrastructure.
  • The AIIB announced that 60% of its total lending in 2024 would be directed toward climate finance projects.
  • The Pacific island nation of Nauru joined the AIIB, bringing the total number of member countries to 110.
