G77

The Group of 77 (G-77) was established on 15 June 1964 by seventy-seven developing countries signatories of the "Joint Declaration of the Seventy-Seven Countries" issued at the end of the first session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva. India, as a founding member, actively engages in shaping the group's agenda on global equity, sustainable development, and South-South cooperation.

G77 in 2025

  • In 2025, Iraq holds the G77 chairmanship in New York, while Peru assumed the chairmanship of ‘G77 and China’ from Cambodia in Geneva, focusing on trade and development challenges.
