Global Innovation Index (GII) 2024

The Global Innovation Index (GII) 2024 was released on September 26, 2024, by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a UN specialized agency.

The index evaluates the innovation performance of economies under the theme "Unlocking the Promise of Social Entrepreneurship."

GII 2024 marks the 17th edition and ranks 133 countries based on innovation performance.

Global Rankings & Trends

  • Switzerland ranked 1st for the 14th consecutive year, scoring 67.5, followed by Sweden (64.5) and the USA (62.4).
  • Angola ranked last (133rd) with a score of 10.2.
  • Top innovation improvers since 2013 include India, China, Vietnam, Turkey, Philippines, Indonesia, Iran, and Morocco.
