Human Development Report 2025

The Human Development Report (HDR) 2025 was released by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on May 06, 2025.

The report (HDR) titled “A Matter of Choice: People and Possibilities in the Age of AI,” examining global development trends with a focus on life expectancy, education, income, and AI's impact on human potential.

Indicators

HDI is a composite index that measures average achievement in human development taking into account three indicators:

  1. Life expectancy at birth (SDG 3),
  2. Expected years of schooling (SDG 4.3),
  3. Mean years of schooling (SDG 4.4)
  4. Gross national income (GNI) (SDG 8.5)
