India-Norway Maritime Talks
On 4th June, 2025, India and Norway held high-level bilateral talks to boost cooperation on green maritime technologies, ship electrification, sustainable fisheries, and Arctic shipping.
- India proposed a Joint Feasibility Study with Norway for operationalising the Northern Sea Route (NSR), aiming to improve Arctic navigation through R&D, ice-class vessel design, and sustainable shipping solutions.
- Both sides agreed to collaborate on green ferry electrification, drawing on Norway’s advanced experience and India’s inland waterway potential to decarbonise passenger and cargo transport.
