One Year of New Criminal Laws
On 1st July 2025, Union Home Minister addressed the programme “A Golden Year of Trust in the Justice System” held in New Delhi to mark the successful completion of one year of the new criminal laws.
New Laws Replacing Colonial-Era Framework
- Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023 (BNS) – Replaced Indian Penal Code (IPC, 1860)
- Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS) – Replaced Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC, 1973)
- Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA) – Replaced Indian Evidence Act (1872)
Key Pillars of Implementing the New Criminal Laws (NCLs)
