Children’s Climate Risk Report 2026
On 16th June 2026, the Children’s Climate Risk Report 2026 was released by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
- The report provides the most comprehensive picture to date of the threat to children from the climate crisis and its impacts.
India Specific Findings
Exposure of Indian Children to Extreme Heat
- Around 392 million children in India (92%) are exposed to extreme heat conditions.
- An additional 89 million children face recurrent heatwave events.
India Records Very High Climate Hazard Exposure
- India’s overall hazard exposure score stands at 9.21/10, among the highest globally.
