Global Peace Index 2026
On 9th June 2026, the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) released the 20th edition of the Global Peace Index (GPI).
About the Index
- It is the world’s leading measure of peacefulness, assessing 163 countries and territories using indicators covering societal safety and security, ongoing conflict, and militarisation.
- It was first published in 2007.
- It covers 99.7% of the world’s population and is calculated using 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators from highly respected sources.
- It measures the state of peace across three domains:
- 1.Level of Societal Safety and Security,
- 2.Extent of Ongoing Domestic and International Conflict,
- 3.Degree of Militarisation.
