Tezpur Litchi

In June 2026, APEDA facilitated the first export consignment of GI-tagged Tezpur litchi from Assam to Dubai on 7 June 2026.

  • Tezpur litchi is mainly grown in the Sonitpur district of Assam.
  • It is known for its bright-red appearance, and the fruit colour varies from dull brick red to attractive red.
  • It weighs around 70–80 g and is the largest among the litchi varieties grown in Assam.
  • Tezpur litchi thrives best under a humid sub-tropical climate.
  • It grows well where temperatures are around 30°C in June and 21°C in February, and it is sensitive to frost and dry heat.
