In a latest development, revamping of 22 Standing Committees of Parliament was done by the government.
About Parliamentary Committees
- Parliamentary Committee means a Committee which is appointed or elected by the House or nominated by the Speaker.
- The Committee works under the direction of the Speaker and presents its report to the House or to the Speaker and the Secretariat for which is provided by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
- Parliament is not bound by the recommendations of committees.

- Parliamentary Committees have their origins in the British Parliament.
- The first Parliamentary Committee was constituted in 1571 in Britain.
