Children Displaced in a Changing Climate
Recently, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) released a report -Children Displaced in a Changing Climate, which is the first global analysis of the number of children driven from their homes between 2016 and 2021 due to floods, storms, droughts and wildfires, and looks at projections for the next 30 years.
Key Findings
- Based on the analysis, there were 43.1 million internal displacements of children linked to weather-related disasters over the last six years – the equivalent to approximately 20,000 child displacements per day.
