Combating Climate Change
- Department of Science & Technology has been implementing two national missions on Climate Change- the National Mission for Sustaining the Himalayan Ecosystem (NMSHE) and National Mission on Strategic Knowledge for Climate Change (NMSKCC).
- Ministry of Science and Technology has been designated as nodal agency to implement the above two national missions to fight climate change.
- The primary goal of NMSHE is to develop the capacity to scientifically assess the Himalayan region’s vulnerability to climate change and to continuously assess the health of the Himalayan ecosystem.
- NMSKCC focuses on developing human and institutional S&T capacities in climate change and strategic knowledge ....
