Draft National Sports Governance Bill, 2024
On 10th October 2024, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports released the Draft National Sports Governance Bill, 2024, for public consultation, seeking feedback from the general public and stakeholders as part of the pre-legislative process.
Objectives of the Bill
- Promotion of Sports and Welfare: The Bill aims to develop and promote sports, ensure welfare measures for athletes, and enforce ethical practices through good governance.
- Establishment of Governance Standards: It seeks to create institutional capacity and standards based on universal principles of good governance, ethics, and fair play as per the Olympic and Paralympic Charters.
