First World War and Indian Nationalism
The First World War (1914-1919) broke out in which Britain allied with France, Russia and USA against Germany, Austria-Hungary and Turkey. It gave new life to the nationalist struggle in India which was stagnated after fallout of Swadeshi Movement. It was believed that Britain’s difficulty was India’s opportunity. This opportunity was seized in following ways:
- Ghadar Revolutionaries based in North America, aimed at violent overthrow of British Rule.
- Home Rule Leagues based in India, with nation-wide agitation for securing Home-Rule or ....
