CAG Report on Groundwater Management & Regulation
On 21st December, the performance audit report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India on groundwater management and regulation was presented in the Parliament.
About the Report
- The audit was conducted on the basis of five years of data (2013-2018) on groundwater management and regulation in India.
- Objectives: To ascertain the implementation of groundwater regulations; mechanism for managing groundwater; and targets and objectives on the schemes of groundwater management and appropriate steps taken to achieve the UN-SDG Target 6 that addresses water scarcity among other issues.
