Agriculture and Rural Development: Key Initiative and Achievements
- Rs. 1,25,026 crore has been allocated to the 'Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare' for the financial year 2023-24; Which is 5% more than the revised estimate for 2022-23.
- The government has increased the target of agricultural loan to Rs 20 lakh crore. Also, a provision of Rs 6,000 crore has been made to launch the new scheme 'Pradhanmantri Matsya Sampada Yojana'.
- While addressing the 17th 'Indian Cooperative Congress' on July 3, 2023, the Indian Prime Minister said that the government is spending an average of more than Rs. 6.5 lakh crore annually on agriculture and farmers.
