Centre Urges Odisha to Implement PM-USHA Scheme
Recently, the Union Education Minister urged the Odisha Chief Minister to implement the PM-USHA scheme for higher education in the state.
About PM-USHA Scheme
- It was launched in June 2023, replacing the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan. It covers government and government-aided institutions of the States and UTs.
Objectives
- Creating new academic institutions;
- Expanding and upgrading the existing ones; and
- Developing institutions that are self-reliant in terms of quality education, professionally managed, and characterised by a greater inclination towards research.
Focus Areas
- Equity, access and inclusion in higher education;
- Developing quality teaching & learning processes;
- Accreditation of non-accredited institutions and improving accreditation;
