India at Artic
- Himadri, India’s Arctic Research Station at Ny-Ålesund in Svalbard, will operate year-round, with the first winter expedition launched on December 18, 2023.
- Ny-Ålesund hosts permanent facilities from at least 10 countries, located above the 78th parallel N, about 1,200 km from the North Pole.
- The mean temperature in Ny-Ålesund in February is minus 14 degrees Celsius, limiting scientific observations to the summer months.
