Brownfield Ammonia-Urea Plant to Be Set Up in Dibrugarh
- On 21st December 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of a Brownfield Ammonia–Urea Plant in Dibrugarh district, Assam.
- The plant is expected to become operational by 2030.
- Project cost: Rs.10,601 crore.
- The annual urea production capacity of the unit will be 12.7 lakh metric tonnes.
- The project is being implemented by Assam Valley Fertilizer and Chemical Company Limited (AVFCCL).
- State-owned BVFCL is the only urea-producing unit in eastern India.
- The plant originally began production in January 1969 under Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited (HFCL).
- In April 2002, the Namrup unit of HFCL was separated and BVFCL was formed. ....
