Doppler Weather Radars Approved
- Recently, the Union Government approved three new Doppler Weather Radars (DWRs) for Haridwar, Pantnagar, and Auli.
- These radars will expand high-resolution weather monitoring in the state.
- Doppler radars can detect storm structure, wind patterns, moisture intensity, and vertical cloud development 30–90 minutes in advance.
- Currently, Uttarakhand has DWRs at Surkanda Devi, Mukteshwar, and Lansdowne.
- Large areas, especially the Shivalik foothills, parts of Kumaon, and upper Garhwal ranges, remain outside real-time radar ....
