Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI)
Recently, as per the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), its Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI) prevented Rs.660 crore in potential cyber fraud losses within just six months of its May 2025 rollout.
- FRI was launched in May 2025 by the Department of Telecommunications’ (DoT) Digital Intelligence Unit (DIU).
- It is a risk-based metric that classifies mobile numbers into three categories: Medium, High, and Very High Risk based on their likelihood of involvement in financial fraud.
