Maharashtra Ranks First in Attracting Foreign Tourists
- Recently, the Ministry of Tourism released the 66th edition of “India Tourism Data Collection 2025,” reflecting tourism trends for 2024.
- Top destination for foreign tourists (FTVs): Maharashtra ranked first in 2024.
- 3.71 million foreign tourist visits were recorded.
- West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh followed.
- Top destination for domestic tourists: Uttar Pradesh ranked first among Indian travellers.
- A record 646.8 million domestic tourist visits were recorded.
- Tamil Nadu and Karnataka followed.
- Major source countries of foreign tourists:
- United States – 18.13%
- Bangladesh – 17.59%
- United Kingdom – 10.28%
- Tourism growth: Domestic tourism in India grew at a rate of 17.51%, with total domestic visits reaching 2,948.19 million.
