New Guidelines for Major Shipbuilding Schemes
On 27th December 2025, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW) notified the operational guidelines for two major initiatives: the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme (SBFAS) and the Shipbuilding Development Scheme (SbDS).
- The schemes aim to strengthen India’s domestic shipbuilding capacity and enhance global competitiveness through a transparent and accountable framework.
Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme
- Financial Assistance: Under the scheme, the government will provide financial assistance ranging from 15 percent to 25 percent of the vessel cost, depending on the vessel category.
- Graded Support: The scheme introduces graded support for small normal, large normal, and specialised vessels.
