PESA Mahotsav: Celebrating Community-Led Governance under the PESA Act
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj organized a two-day ‘PESA Mahotsav: Utsav Lok Sanskriti Ka’ on December 23-24, 2025, in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
- The Mahotsav marks the anniversary of the Panchayats (Extension to the Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996 (The PESA Act).
- The objective was to spread awareness on the Act and improving the capabilities of local level bodies in Scheduled Areas.
- It is envisioned as a national platform to celebrate and preserve the cultural and traditional heritage of tribal communities in PESA areas.
