Leprosy
- Also known as Hansen's disease, it is a chronic, progressive bacterial infection caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae.
- It primarily affects the nerves of the extremities, the skin, the lining of the nose, and the upper respiratory tract.
- Forms of leprosy include Tuberculoid (A mild, less severe form of leprosy. People with this type have only one or a few patches of flat, pale-colored skin); Lepromatous (A more severe form of the disease.
