Repealing a Law
On 1st December, 2021, President gave his assent to the Bill that completes the process of repealing the three contentious farm laws.
The Law Ministry notified The Farm Laws Repeal Law, 2021, which negates all the farm laws passed by Parliament 1n September, 2020.
What is meant by Repealing a Law?
- Repealing a law is one of the ways to nullify a law.
- A law is reversed when Parliament thinks there is no longer a need for the law to exist.
- Legislation can also have a “sunset” clause, a particular date after which they cease to exist.
