- According to the official data released on April 30, 2022, India has more than 63 million MSMEs out of which about 94% are Micro-Enterprises.
- Rural Enterprises can be broadly classified into two types - Proprietial Ownership and Group Entrepreneurship that includes SHG's, Cooperatives and Producer companies.

- Government of India's Startup Village Entrepreneurship Program (SVEP) has been initiated with the purpose of assisting entrepreneurs to establish their businesses enterprises in rural India.
