Israel and Hezbollah Agree to US-brokered Ceasefire
On 27th November 2024, Israel and Lebanon-based Hezbollah agreed to a US-brokered ceasefire, ending hostilities that escalated into full-scale war in September. The agreement aims for a lasting cessation of violence and regional stability.
Ceasefire Terms
- Hezbollah Retreat: Withdrawal of fighters 40 kilometers from the Israel-Lebanon border.
- Israeli Withdrawal: Complete pullback of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.
- Security Oversight: Deployment of 5,000 Lebanese troops and monitoring by UN peacekeepers and a multinational committee.

- Disarmament Zone: Enforcement of a weapon-free area south of Litani, guarded exclusively by Lebanon's state army and UN forces.
