NFSA: Centre Removes Ineligible Beneficiaries
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution informed on 18th November 2025 that the Central government has pruned about 2.25 crore ineligible beneficiaries of the free monthly ration scheme under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the last 4-5 months as it looks to make the programme more focused to benefit only the rightful.
- The exercise is part of an intensified push to improve the targeting efficiency of one of India’s largest welfare programmes.
