Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Sintered Rare Earth Permanent Magnets
On 26th November 2025, the Union Cabinet approved the 'Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Sintered Rare Earth Permanent Magnets'.
- It is first-of-its-kind initiative by the Government of India to promote REPM ecosystem, enhancing self-reliance and positioning India as a key player in the global REPM market
Aim
- To promote domestic manufacturing,
- To strengthen supply chains for the automotive, defence, and aerospace sectors, and
- To support the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan and India's Net Zero 2070 commitment.

- REMP Manufacturing: The scheme aims to establish 6,000 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of integrated REPM manufacturing capacity in India.
