Total Chess World Championship
- A fourth world title is set to be added in chess from 2027, which will crown the player with the best overall performance across all three existing formats as the “FIDE Unified World Champion.”
- On 12 November 2025, the organisers of Norway Chess announced the Total Chess World Championship tour, which has been approved by FIDE.
- Currently, chess has three official world championships:
- Classical World Championship (every 2 years)
- FIDE World Rapid Championship (annual)
- FIDE World Blitz Championship (annual)
- Starting in 2027, the new “Total Chess World Championship” tour will feature 4 tournaments annually in different ....
