Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, paid a State Visit to India from 5-8 September, 2022.

  • Seven agreements were signed during the visit, including in the areas of water resources, cooperation in railways, capacity building, science and technology and space cooperation.

Background

  • India aided Bangladesh in the latter’s Liberation War of 1971.
  • The Ganges Water Sharing Treaty was concluded in 1996.
  • Bangladesh is India’s largest trading partner in South Asia.
