ICC Requests Arrest Warrants against Hamas Leaders and Israeli PM
On 20th May, 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) filed requests for arrest warrants against leaders of Hamas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the events of October 7, 2023, and subsequent conflicts in Palestine.
Specific Charges against the Accused
- Hamas leaders are accused of crimes including extermination, murder, rape, and torture related to the events of October 7, 2023.
- Netanyahu and Israel's Minister of Defence Yoav Gallant are charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza, including starvation, wilful killing, and directing attacks against civilians.
