Aditya-L1 Mission
Aditya-L1 Mission - India’s first solar mission – was launched by ISRO on 2 September 2023. It positioned the spacecraft at the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point 1 (L1), about 1.5 million km from Earth, allowing continuous solar observation.
Scientific Goals
- Study of the solar corona, chromosphere, and photosphere.
- Understanding coronal heating, solar wind acceleration, coronal mass ejections (CMEs), and solar flares.
- Analyze the dynamics of the solar atmosphere and space weather.
Payloads
- VELC: Studies solar corona and CMEs.
- SUIT: Ultraviolet imaging of the Sun.
- SoLEXS & HEL1OS: Observe X-ray flares.
- ASPEX & PAPA: Analyze solar wind.
- MAG: Measures interplanetary magnetic field.
