NASA’s Artemis Program
NASA's Artemis program is a mission-driven initiative to return humans to the Moon for scientific discovery, technological advancement, and to pave the way for future human missions to Mars. The program involves collaborating with commercial and international partners to establish a long-term presence on the Moon. NASA is collaborating with European Space Agency (ESA), Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and other international agencies for this programme.
Major Missions and Timeline
- Artemis I (2022): Uncrewed test flight, validated the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft.
- Artemis II (2026): First crewed mission; four astronauts will orbit the Moon for 10 days (no landing).
