Presidential Reference
On 13th May 2025, President of India made a reference to the Supreme Court (SC), under Article 143 of the Constitution, on certain questions of law and has sought its opinion on those questions.
- This move comes after a recent SC judgment which invoked Article 142 in the State of Tamil Nadu vs. The Governor of Tamil Nadu Case (2023) imposing timelines on Governors and the President to act on Bills passed by state legislatures.
