On 13th May 2025, the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) released an in-depth report, titled ‘Understanding the Indian MSME Sector: Progress and Challenges’, offering a comprehensive overview of the evolving landscape of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India.

Overview of MSME Sector
- Share in GVA: The share of MSMEs in the country’s Gross Value Added (GVA) increasing from 27.3% in FY2020-21 to 29.6% in FY2021-22 and 30.1% in FY2022-23 highlights its growing role in national economic output.
