Success of SSLV (Small Satellite Launch Vehicle)
Developed by ISRO, India’s low-cost, rapid, and flexible small satellite launch vehicle is capable of deploying small satellites into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
Key Successful Missions
(i) SSLV-D2 (10 February 2023)
Successfully launched three satellites:
- EOS-07 (Earth observation, 153.6 kg)
- Janus-1 (US tech demo, 10.2 kg)
- AzaadiSAT-2 (student-built, 8.8 kg)
- Deployed into a 450 km circular orbit.
- Improvements: Enhanced sensors, guidance system, and separation technologies.
(ii) SSLV-D3 (16 August 2024)
Successfully launched two satellites:
- EOS-08 (Earth observation, 175.5 kg)
- Deployed into a 475 km circular orbit.
- Proved SSLV’s reliability; now ready for commercial launches.
