Committee on Empowerment of Women
On 15th May 2026, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla officially reconstituted the Parliamentary Committee on Empowerment of Women for the year 2026–27.
What is Committee on Empowerment of Women?
- Establishment: It was constituted for the first time on 29th April, 1997 during the 11th Lok Sabha.
- Composition: Consists of 30 Members:
- 20 nominated by the Speaker from amongst the Members of Lok Sabha
- 10 nominated by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha from amongst the Members of the Rajya Sabha.
- Term: The term of the Committee does not exceed one year and it is re-constituted year after year.
