India and Sweden Move towards Strategic Partnership
On 17th May 2026, India and Sweden agreed to elevate bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Gothenburg to strengthen cooperation in trade, technology, security, innovation, and sustainability.

- Joint Statement.
- Joint Action Plan (2026–2030).
Joint Innovation Partnership 2.0
- Plans to Establish: Virtual India-Sweden Joint Science and Technology Centre.
- Areas of Cooperation: artificial intelligence (ai), 6g technology, quantum computing, critical minerals, space and life sciences.
India-Sweden Technology and AI Corridor (SITAC)
Objective
- Promote collaboration in:
- AI research.
- Digital transformation.
- Advanced technologies.
- Strengthen industry-startup partnerships.
