Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0
Recently, in a major step toward strengthening grassroots governance and promoting inclusive rural development, the Union Government released the Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0 for the year 2023–24.
What is PAI?
- Progress Measuring Tool: Launched by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, it is the world’s first nationwide framework to measure the progress of Rural Local Government Institutions (Gram Panchayats (GPs)/Traditional Local Bodies (TLBs)) using objective and verifiable indicators.
- Sectors: It assesses Panchayat-level performance across critical sectors such as sanitation, health, governance, women’s empowerment, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability.
- SDG: The Index is anchored in the framework of Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs), ....
