India's Lightest Bulletproof Jacket
- On 22nd April, 2024, DRDO's DMSRDE unit achieved breakthrough with a lightweight bulletproof jacket capable of thwarting highest threat levels.
- The bulletproof jacket is designed to withstand 7.62 x 54 R API ammunition, meeting level 6 of BIS 17051 standards.
- Recent tests confirm the jacket's effectiveness against sniper rounds, with the front hard armour panel (HAP) capable of withstanding multiple hits.
- Ergonomically designed front HAP features a monolithic ceramic plate with polymer backing, ensuring comfort and ease of movement during operations.
