Joint Naval Drills
- On 12th April 2024, South Korea navy announced that Japan, and the US conducted joint naval exercises to enhance readiness against North Korean nuclear and missile threats.
- North Korea has been intensifying its weapons development efforts, including testing solid-fuel hypersonic missiles, prompting concerns over regional security.
- The exercises focused on anti-submarine warfare drills to enhance responses to North Korean underwater threats, including submarines and submarine-launched ballistic missiles.
- Held in international waters between South Korea and Japan, the two-day drills involved the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt and destroyers from all three nations.
