Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS)
- Noting the cross-border linkages of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam (J&K) on 22nd April 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) announced a series of extraordinary retaliatory measures against Pakistan.
- CCS is the apex decision-making body in the Government of India on matters related to national security, defence policy and strategic affairs.
- It is chaired by the Prime Minister and includes the ministers holding the four key portfolios: Defence, Home Affairs, Finance & External Affairs.
- Functions of the CCS:
- Review and clearance of major defence and strategic policies.
- Sanctioning defence-related expenditures and procurement deals.
