HEALD Initiative
On 19th April 2025, on the occasion of World Liver Day, Union government launched HEALD (Healthy Liver Education and Alcohol-associated Liver Disease Prevention), a pioneering initiative by the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) to combat liver disease across India.
Objective of HEALD
- To raise awareness about liver diseases, especially those linked to alcohol use.
- To provide early screening, psychological support, and medical treatment for liver ailments.
- To integrate liver health into mainstream public health through education, rehabilitation, and policy action.
- To reduce stigma associated with alcohol dependence and promote mental health support.
