Cabinet Approves Continuation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III (PMGSY-III)
On 18th April 2026, the Union Cabinet approved the continuation of PMGSY-III beyond March 2025 up to March 2028.
- In July 2019, the Cabinet approved PMGSY Phase III, aiming to consolidate 125,000 km of road networks connecting settlements to higher secondary schools, hospitals, and Gramin agricultural markets (GrAMs).
- The scheme, operational from 2019-20 to 2024-25, emphasises rural infrastructure enhancement and socio-economic development.
- The extension of the timeline of PMGSY-III will enable the full realisation of its intended socio-economic benefits by ensuring completion of targeted upgradation of rural roads.
