India Achieves Record Growth in Wind Energy in FY 2025-26
On 6th April 2026, as per the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, India achieved its highest-ever annual wind capacity addition of 6.05 GW during FY 2025-26.
Key Highlights of the Achievement
- Largest Addition: This is the largest addition of wind capacity in India in history, exceeding the 5.5 GW of 2016-17.
- Percentage Growth: This milestone is a 46% growth relative to the capacity addition in FY25.
- Total Capacity: The total installed power capacity in wind power in India has reached over 56 GW.
- Leading States: Gujarat, Karnataka, and Maharashtra led the expansions.
