Political Transition in Bangladesh (2024–26)

Bangladesh witnessed a major political upheaval in July 2024, when student-led mass protests led to the fall of the long-standing government of Sheikh Hasina.

  • Following the crisis, an interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus assumed power in August 2024 to stabilise governance and oversee reforms.
  • The interim administration focused on institutional reforms, electoral restructuring, and strengthening democratic processes, including proposals for constitutional changes.
