Project Him Sarovar
- On 10th April 2026, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena launched Project Him Sarovar to address water scarcity in Ladakh.
- The project aims to enhance long-term water security through scientific snow harvesting, improved irrigation, climate resilience, and creation of “green and blue assets”.
- It involves the construction of 50 small water bodies across Leh and Kargil to store snowmelt.
- The initiative addresses Ladakh’s challenges of extremely low rainfall and heavy dependence on glaciers and seasonal snowmelt.
- The project is supported by institutions such as the Indian Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, and Border Roads Organisation, along with local community ....
