Sankey Diagram
On 30th March 2026, the National Statistics Office (NSO) released its annual publication Energy Statistics India 2026, which prominently incorporates Sankey diagrams to present energy flow patterns.
- A Sankey Diagram is a specialised flow chart where the width of the arrows is proportional to the flow quantity, used in this report to visualize the transition of energy from primary sources to final end-use.
- It acts as a catalyst for policy clarity by showing exactly where energy is lost or diverted: from production and imports through transformation (like power plants) to final consumption in industry or households.
